I finished reading the book and sought some feedback on this one.and I congratulate you for your comment, it is very complete and this is what you see in the book as a frustration with an impressive story that starts to get completely lost after the robot rescues the old ship from the sand of ancient dock on Diaspar.
it makes you want to rewrite from there while preserving the function of the central character Alvin and really finding a conclusive and consistent story line. But as you said, what impresses most are such ideas still in the late 50's Clark is unique

I have also just read the Dec 21/ Jan 22 article in Free Inquiry. I am impressed with it. Like Paul Handover I'm 77 but have only been an atheist since 2012. It is very concise article on the things that have escaped me. I will save this article, with many others, for future reference. Thank you for your insight.

I have just finished reading this as published in the December 2021/January 2022 issue of Free Inquiry. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. I am 77 and have been an atheist all my life, except for a couple of distractions, and my mother who lived until she was 97 was also a non-believer. Some of the words used by you were above my comprehension but that did not reduce the effectiveness of your arguments.
I see that you have a German Shepherd. That’s great. They are beautiful animals. As a result of the dogs in my (our) lives (Jeannie is my wife) in 2009 I started a blog called Learning from Dogs and subsequently wrote a book of the same name.
I will look up how to follow you in your writings. Well done!
